Methodology
How Paraguay Now collects and dates prices, budgets, and place rankings, and how often it rechecks them.
This page explains how we produce the numbers and rankings used across the site, so you can judge how much weight to give them.
Prices and budgets
Cost-of-living figures are built from a sample of real prices: receipts, posted tariffs, quoted rates, or official fee schedules, collected on or around a stated date. We show the date the sample was taken, note the currency and any conversion rate used, and describe the profile behind a budget figure (for example, single person vs. a family of four) instead of publishing one number that quietly assumes a lifestyle.
Refresh schedule: cost-of-living and budget pages are reviewed quarterly at minimum, with the exchange rate shown separately from the underlying local prices so a currency swing does not silently make an old guide look wrong.
Residency, tax, and legal procedures
For residency, tax, and other regulatory content, we cite the responsible authority directly (Dirección Nacional de Migraciones for residency, DNIT for tax matters) and note the date the rule was last checked against that source. These pages are rechecked whenever we become aware of a regulatory change, and reviewed on a monthly light pass plus a full quarterly review regardless. Rules that vary by nationality or individual situation are described as such, not flattened into one blanket answer.
Real estate and rental prices
Where we quote asking prices or rental ranges, we note whether the figure comes from active listings, a closed transaction, or a professional's estimate, along with the date and the neighborhood or building it applies to. We do not present a single citywide average as if it applied evenly across very different neighborhoods.
Places: restaurants, cafés, and things to do
A place is only published if it has been visited or directly verified. We record the visit date, the price actually paid (and whether the visit was complimentary, when that's the case), and who the recommendation is best suited for (a work session, a family outing, a special occasion, and so on). We do not treat third-party review scores (Google, TripAdvisor) as our own editorial judgment. Hours and status are rechecked every 60 to 90 days and before any place is featured prominently.
